Today I went and did my favorite thing, went to Borders and sat in the cafe and had a White Chocolate Mocha and drew in my sketchbook. I usually draw in my moleskine, but I like to try different papers so this time I drew in my Meade Academie sketchbook. What I did was sneak camera-phone photos of people shopping in the store and then drew my sketch from the photo. Then they are "standing still" for me and I can zoom in, etc. I like doing it that way. I only got one sketch done there today. EDITED TO ADD: The reason there is not bottom of the man is because there was a chair between he and I.

kw: artwork, drawing, sketch, sketchbook, meade, not moleskine, pencil, pencils, old man, crutches.

Great weight distribution in this sketch, he really looks like he’s relying on those crutches!

Great drawing, he is a very interesting subject. I will have to try a sit down at Borders and seek a peek at some folks.

Nice drawing Lauren…like the fact that he’s only halfway drawn.

Well done - you can feel his pain, poor guy.

Well done you’ve captured that pose perfectly! And I hope you have fun experimenting with the printer and papers and show us the results.

Seems like a really post modern approach - but so effective! I love it.

You’ve really captured the angles of his body as he leans on the crutches, and I like the detail of the folds on his shirt. Nice work.

I like this sketch of the man with the crutches. It’s the kind of sketch that tells a story or makes ones wonder what the story about this man is. Excellent choice for sketch subject, and great sketch in itself.
*White chocolate mocha and a sketchbook! Laserone, you’re living a sweet life!

Hi Lauren, I like this - you got a lot of detail for what must have been quite a quick drawing. And you’ve got a real sense of the bulk of his body under the shirt.
